Parallelpoint is recruiting qualified Savings Group experts to provide technical assistance for a national savings group program in delivering accelerated formation of women savings groups in Yobe and Adamawa States.
This is a performance-based, field-intensive role for highly experienced technical experts with strong competence in women’s economic empowerment, savings groups (VSLA, SILC), and community mobilisation, and the ability to support community-based facilitators and local government implementation teams to deliver quality results at scale.
Role Description
The Savings Group Expert will work with existing state structures to provide practical training, field support, and supportive supervision to community-based facilitators and local government implementation teams to accelerate savings group mobilisation, formation, strengthening, and performance management. The role will prioritise quality standards, data management, safeguarding compliance, and accurate reporting to support credible results, using the existing savings group methodologies.
Key Responsibilities
- Support stepdown training for community-based facilitators and local government implementation teams on mobilisation, inclusion targeting, savings group formation, governance, meeting discipline, and data management.
- Support community-based facilitators and local government implementation teams to mobilise and form 1200 savings groups across LGAs.
- Conduct field meetings and observe live mobilisation and group formation sessions, providing real-time support and feedback.
- Provide weekly updates on the savings activities of each savings group formed and supported, and monthly updates on activities (e.g. savings and loan meetings, membership, etc.)
- Support community-based facilitators and local government implementation teams in data management of created groups
- Provide supportive supervision visits using approved checklists, viability diagnostics, and corrective action plans for weak groups.
- Reinforce existing safeguarding and code of conduct guidelines, including prevention of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse and Sexual Harassment, and support community awareness on reporting channels.
- Support data quality routines by checking the completeness of group registers and profiling tools, and supporting timely submission for digital entry on the project management platform.
- Document field challenges, learning gaps, and recommended improvements to strengthen delivery routines.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Minimum of a first degree in Social Sciences, Management, Education, Development Studies, Public Health, or related disciplines.
- Minimum of 7 years relevant experience in community-based women empowerment programming, savings groups, livelihood interventions, or financial inclusion delivery.
- Demonstrated experience in Training of Trainers, facilitation, and field supervision in rural and peri-urban communities.
- Strong knowledge of savings groups methodologies, group governance and recordkeeping, and community mobilisation approaches.
- Experience supporting data collection and basic reporting, with strong attention to data completeness and accuracy.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work with government counterparts, community leaders, and women groups.
- Fluency in English is required. Fluency in relevant local languages in Kogi and Ekiti is an advantage.
- Willingness to travel extensively within LGAs and wards and work in a high-intensity field environment.
